I went through a basic diagnostic and checked the spark plug (i shocked myself). I diagnosed that it must be either a fuel or air delivery problem. So i went to the local auto parts store (don't want to declare any affiliation) and purchased a can of the starter spray. I shot a bunch into the air intake and pulled the chord, no dice. So figured it was a clog in the carb. I pulled off the carb and before delving into a hair pulling carb dis-assembly i sprayed some of the starter right into the intake, bypassing the carb. Still nothing, now I am confused and require help. Any advice other than ditch the quad?

not starting '86 cyclone |

We noticed that the kick start was sticking down when used. So I took the cover off to clean and noticed all of the fins were broke off of the primary clutch. So I ordered a new one put it on and cleaned the kick. After I got it together I started it up and I could hear the fins on the primary hitting something. Took it back apart and saw it was hitting the kick start assembly. Got looking at why and realized the aluminum cover was bent right by where the kick start goes in. If I try to bend it back it will just break so I looked for another on ebay. And searched for part numbers on partzilla to see what would interchange. It looks like 01-03 predator, scrambler, and sportsman are the same cover. But all the pics I looked at of the newer ones look just the same and are easier to find used ones in better shape. Anyone know if any of the newer polaris 90cc like 04 and 05 are the same or will interchange? Please help thanks Rick

2003 Predator 90cc broken clutch cover help  |

It is a 06 150cc Rapidity. Over the past 2 weeks I have read hundred of forums regarding pos Chinese 4 wheelers. I wont drag it out any further. Here is a list of what has occurred and IN ORDER (which I may be wrong but I feel is necessary to diagnose the problem) Purchased it used. Started right up. Looked great, ran great. Got it home, ran it for 3+ hours with a few breaks thru lots of mud. Started sounding "bubbly" while running. Husband gets home, notices the hose coming out of fuel cap is sitting in water. Drains fuel, starts messing with carb. It goes from sounding like *** not starting. My husband says it needs new carb. Obtain new carb. Put the new carb on. Sets it "2 1/2 revolutions" back. Still nothing. I'm impatient and now quite discouraged. We argue and I (who knows nothing) am forced take over. I research out the wazoo to educate myself on this. I start with the basics. Not knowing how to use a voltmeter or whatever its called, I figure I'll just buy everything and sooner or later, get it running. Well that didn't last long. Replaced fuse. Replaced spark plug. Had battery tested-great. In the "troubleshooting" process I see smoke while trying to start it. I locate it at the solenoid coming from the starter cable. I touch starter, quite heated. Also notice the ground coming from batter is melting...in the middle of the cable, not at either end. Order new starter. Replace starter this morning. Replaced battery cables this morning. I attempt to start it, starter starts what I call "spinning". No cranking from engine, just noise from the starter. Being very weary of the new starter I don't want to screw it up. So I try my patience and think maybe because the battery has been sitting for a week it needs a couple hours of charge. After a couple hours I go to start it. The engine actually cranks now but not turn over. On a whim I while engaging the ignition via the start button I kick start it at the same time. It turns over! Then dies immediately. So this time I attempt to kick it over without the start button. I discover for whatever reason the kicking action faces much more resistance without pushing the start button. I get nothing after trying for some time. I try the button/kick start again and it once again starts! Dies before I can even get my hand on the throttle. My husband comes out and I tell him what it's doing. He starts messing once again with the carb screw while laying on the start button. He finally gets it started with a high idle. It dies within a few seconds and he says to let it charge/starter cool. Know that all the while I have constantly checked ignition position, fuel level, kill switch so its not any of the obvious, well those obvious solutions at least. Now I go out after several hours and its just a whiney starter noise. No cranking, nothing. I'm ready to drive it in the creek........I mean push.

Please....shoot me |
