With GNCC rules requiring...
With GNCC rules requiring doors and four-point restraints for 2009, acquiring these items were first on the list of mods. And to add a little pop, Custom Covers sowed up a set of trick new seat covers.
Finding trails with no obstacles is virtually impossible on the GNCC circuit. Rock gardens and gnarly roots will surely get the best of your frame and engine creating havoc on these components if not properly protected. I have seen the carnage of a rock encounter leaving a golf ball-sized hole in the cases, which not only may just end your day, but the life of your motor! That's why Kevin decided to add some of Pro Armor's newest protective plates to his racer. The Pro Armor skid plates come in three pieces--front, middle and rear. Each part has recessed bolt holes to keep the bolt heads from being busted off by passing rocks or obstacles. These plates protect the frame and engine along with the front and rear end of the valuable RZR chassis. These guys even thought of the rear differential; that cover fits right in place using the stock mounting areas.
On the front and rear of this rage racer we found bumpers made for pounding. Made of lightweight aluminum tubing, these bumpers can take on heavyweight battles. Pro Armor has this machine covered when it comes to bashing, and I just wanted to mention how good the armor looks as well! Add in a pair of PIAA 520 ATP lamps and you'll be able to turn night into day.
The entire Polaris RZR S was covered in Maier "carbon fiber"-simulated plastics from the custom rooftop to the front and rear body panels. Maier even made the fender flares to replace the stock RZR S flares. And then you have the custom Maier hood with a trick-looking scoop! Talk about an awesome-looking replacement. And to protect from flying debris, a quarter windshield by PowerMadd was added. After all the parts were assembled, the High Energy Racing guys hooked up with Justin Glaze at G4-Graphics to finalize the RZR's appearance with a hot set of custom graphics.
So the RZR had a new look and new graphics, but these guys felt there was something missing in the cab. After a quick call to UTV Concepts, the RZR was rockin' with the latest in-cab sound system. With four speakers blasting out the tunes, what more could you ask for? Included in the package was a super-trick taillight setup for the RZR that will alert anyone behind you that you are there!
The 25-inch GBC After Burn tire was chosen because of its rugged six-ply rating and overall performance in all terrains. This tire gives the RZR an optimal smooth ride and high-speed cornering capability. The After Burn tires were mounted on a set of DWT RokStar Performance Beadlocks to keep the tire on the rims at all times. The DWT RokStar wheels possessed a sweet computer-cut profile on the beadlock plates that really set off the rims. This wheel and tire setup seemed to do the trick and helped this RZR to shine!
The stock Fox Podium X reservoir shocks seem to do pretty well in stock form, but for racing applications, these shocks would need a little rework. That's when DeRisi Racing International came into play. Santo DeRisi has been revalving and respringing shocks for many years now, and getting a cross-country setup out of these Fox shocks would be no trouble at all for him. After a few days of bench work, Santo had the suspension ready for our test runs.
