Motoworks Yamaha YFZ450R SR4 Exhaust
After rigorous testing on the stock Yamaha YFZ450R, I determined that an overall power increase as well as some bottom-end grunt would be necessary to breathe some much-needed life into this new machine. Motoworks came to the rescue with its SR4 full exhaust and fuel management system. The SR4 exhaust is constructed from aircraft-quality T-304 stainless steel and 6063-T4 aluminum. The overall quality and look of the exhaust system was top-notch in my opinion with great attention paid to the details. The fuel management system is sold separately and specially tuned by Motorworks' technicians for optimum performance.
Pipes rarely mount up with ease, usually requiring a little tugging and tweaking to get mounted up. This was not the case with our SR4, as it almost fell into the correct position with ease. The fuel management system was actually a little more difficult to plug in, but literally is plug-and-play once you figure out where the plugs go. What was most surprising to me were the actual gains in performance this modification made. The YFZ-R absolutely woke up from its somewhat lazy and corked-up feel. All of a sudden the YFZ-R went from a lack in low power to a motor that lugged and exploded with power even at lower rpm. I also quickly realized the gains extend beyond the low-end; it actually drives off the bottom and pulled longer and harder through the midrange and top-end power. As for the noise level, it's obviously a good bit louder than stock, but I did not think it was overly obnoxious. With a price of $549.99 for the exhaust system and $279.99 for the fuel management system, I thought the combo was worth every bit of the money.
