GBC Gator Tires
The GBC Gator is not a new tire but is, in fact, an excellent and very effective trail/mud meat that has been on the market for many years and has proven itself as a great tire over the years. It's not intended to be an extreme mud or mud racing tire, but rather balances perfectly the aspects of a smooth trail tire for those who enjoy jumping in semi-deep mudholes or tackling slimy trails. The Gator is a six-ply-rated tire with lugs that overlap the centerline to help keep a smooth ride while on the trails and offers deep angled lugs that help push the mud out of the side and away from the tire so that it continues to maintain a good bite.
For our testing, we mounted a set of Gators on our Arctic Cat MudPro 700. We spent a considerable amount of time blasting through slick wooded trails and bogging through deep creeks so that we could experience not only its performance and handling characteristics, but its comfort throughout a long ride. For a tire focused on trail and mud, we thought it handled with precision in most circumstances and was about as smooth as a deep-lugged tire could possibly be. As for the deep mud pits and creeks we hit, these tires did fairly well and pulled us in, through and out the other side with very little difficulty. The GBC Gator ranges in price from $51 to $125 depending on the size you're looking for.
