OMF Performance Billet Beadlock Wheels
When it comes to beadlock wheels, there are plenty of companies that make them in various styles and sizes. When it came to outfitting our machine for the Stateline Supermoto Challenge in Primm, Nevada, we wanted to get some of the best wheels on the market and to give our machine a distinctive look, too. A quick call to Bones at OMF headed us in the right direction.
Its Billet Center Wheels feature OMF's traditional good-looking scalloped beadlock ring as well as a reinforcing ring welded on the inside of the rim for added strength. Another feature not found on most wheels is the ability to adjust the offset to your needs or desires. OMF has designed this wheel as a three-piece unit, which allows you to unbolt the center part from the shell and mount it either inboard or outboard of the shell, allowing up to three-quarters of an inch offset adjustability per wheel.
The final thing that made these wheels stand out was the fact that we requested them to be custom-colored. Because of its three-piece design, we were able to get the center and beadlock ring powdercoated Kawasaki green and the center black, which gave them a beautiful and custom look. According to Bones, the color options are endless, so the sky is the limit for creativity.
Mounting the tires was as simple as it could get. The wheels come with valve stems already installed so no worries about scratching up the rims, and the beadlock ring perfectly mated up against the tire bead. Installing these wheels on the quad was perfect as well. With some companies' wheels, the tolerances of the wheel to the inner lip of the hub require some machining or filing of the wheel or hub for a proper fit. The OMF wheels slid right over the wheel studs and onto the front and rear hubs with no problems at all, making for quick installation.
All in all, these wheels gave our quad everything that we wanted and then some. They are competitively priced with other billet-style wheels at $249.95 in a standard polished finish. If you opt to have them custom-colored like we did, there will be a price increase, but as you can see, it's definitely worth it if you like that one-off look. -Eli Madero
