Coming off some bad luck at the San Felipe 250, the team is prepped and
ready to begin pre-running in Mexico this week, prior to the race,
which takes place June 1, 2, & 3. Riders Jorie Williams, Kenny Sanford,
Jamie Kirkpatrick, Richie Brown, and Brandon Brown will be competing
this year on a course that is nearly identical to last year's Baja 500.
Competing in Pro ATV class 25, the field is stacked once again with
teams consisting of current and former Baja champions and SCORE racing
veterans like Josh Frederick, Mike Cafro, and Greg Row. Leaving 2nd off
the line behind Josh Frederick's team, Quad75Dezert will be running the
3A plate.
"We're sitting fifth in points right now after we had bike problems at
the last race," Brandon Brown commented, "but we have been training and
Kenny [Sanford] has put together another immaculate bike for this race,
so we are feeling good about this race. We tested the bike a few
weekends ago and it's works amazingly well with the Teixeira and Fox
Shox combination. Just like before every SCORE race, we are really
excited to go out there and go racing!"
New for this race, both ATV and Motorcycle classes have the option of
running an IRC tracker. Currently these classes have a recording device
to make sure riders are on the course and do not miss any checkpoints
along the route. The trackers will allow SCORE to see where riders are
located in real-time, just like they can currently do with the car and
truck classes. This is added safety for riders as the trackers have a
manual alert button, and it is also beneficial for spectators as now
the weatherman and others can stream the results and locations of bikes
and quads on the course reducing the number of pit crews and fans
wondering where their team is located on the 450 mile course.
The 44th Annual Baja 500 starts and finishes in Ensenada, Mexico with
approximately 450 miles of unique and challenging Mexican terrain and
nearly 300 entries. You can find more information, photos, video and
