NOHVCC is looking for members of Youth Corp and AmeriCorps to present information on their OHV-related service projects during the NOHVCC annual conference, scheduled for August 21-25, 2012, in Great Falls, Montana. Along with doing a presentation, networking with a lot of great OHV trail folks, and the opportunity to eat too much food; the YouthCorps members will be able to take part in the NOHVCC Youth and Education Team time to help the group with youth projects.
NOHVCC will provide a grant scholarship to each presenter invited to attend the conference, paying their travel and hotel expenses, and conference registration fee. For more information, and to submit your name (or the name of someone you know who might be interested), and the details of your Youth Corp or AmeriCorps project, call NOHVCC at 800-348-6487, or send an email to trailhead@nohvcc.org.
Three members of national service agencies made presentations at the 2011 conference in Minneapolis. Steven Ladefoged provided conference attendees with information about Youth Corp, and his work on OHV Projects through the Mile High Youth Corps, which provides job training for teens and young adults in Denver and the southern front range regions of Colorado. Ashley Peters and Jenny Woods talked about the history of the Conservation Corps of Minnesota & Iowa - an AmeriCorps member -- and their experience working with the Minnesota DNR on a variety of OHV projects.
