Jenks Takes Home His First Ever GNCC Win

As the summer break winded down, GNCC racers were eager to get 4-wheels back on the ground. This particular race would bring hot temperatures, dusty trails and the tightest and most technical course that the GNCC has witnessed in many years. The oddest part of the weekend was the empty slot on pit row where 5 time GNCC Champion Bill Ballance would normally pit from. After an injury over the summer break, Ballance opted to sit out this round in order to heal and prepare to salvage his points lead later this season. Furthermore, Suzuki's William Yokley arrived sporting a freshly pulled hamstring but still obtained the determination to win. With these two heavy hitters not being at the top of their game, it would make for an interesting race.

When the flag dropped, 17 Pro Riders ignited the second half of the GNCC season. Yokley would be the first to nail down the lead therefore avoiding the dreaded dust cloud that stirred behind the lead. Unfortunately for Yokley, the pain and agony of his injury would later catch up to him and draw him from his leading position. With Yokley out of the lead, Four Stroke Tech's Chris Jenks took over and brought home the win. Following close behind was Alba Actions Chris Borich and Brandon Ballance. As for now, Bill Balance still obtains the season lead while Borich and Yokley fill in the second and third places.

The Pro class was not the only class to bring big news to round 10. Long time utility racers Mike Penland and Scott Kilby introduced new factory Bombardier rides in Yadkinville. Mounted up on the groundbreaking Outlander 800 4x4, both Penland and Kilby pulled off stellar finishes on these first time machines. With Kilby finishing first in the Utility Modified class and Penland finishing second in the Utility Stock class, both riders were thrilled to have this opportunity. "This was one of the best performing machines I have ever raced" said Penland as he dismounted his quad following the race. With three more races ahead of us, the season is reheating up.
