BREA, Calif. - Suzuki Motor Corporation will enter the off-road utility vehicle market by utilizing its business alliance with Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. Suzuki will introduce its branded version of the Kawasaki-produced MULE 3010 4x4 utility vehicle at the American Suzuki Motor Corporation (ASMC) Dealer Meeting on June 13, 2004, in Las Vegas, Nev. Suzuki will begin marketing the utility vehicle in July 2004 in North America.
This Kawasaki-built product will be Suzuki's first in the utility vehicle market, a market that has grown in North America over the last several years. Suzuki will carefully watch further growth of the market, and will, if appropriate, consider producing its own independently developed off-road utility vehicle in the future.
In August 2001, Suzuki and Kawasaki announced an agreement on their business alliance. They have since been sharing motorcycle and ATV models in worldwide markets. Both companies get benefits from sharing models, including product-line expansion, reduced development costs, and increased consumer awareness from broad-reach product promotion.
