Kyle Penner, 1st Overall ATV....
The cards were dealt, and Kendall was again the winner as Round 6 of the AMA/KENDA National Hare and Hound Championship Series concluded in Johnson Valley OHV Area on April 25th.
With a wire-to-wire victory, Kendall Norman and his JCR-Honda 450X extended his points lead and now has a 16-point advantage over next best David Kamo. Only three rounds remain, and Norman looks to be a favorite for the championship; but the lack of a throw-away in the 2010 points battle means that this year is nowhere near over.
The FMF/KTM duo of David Kamo and David Pearson finished 2nd and 3rd overall respectively, followed closely by the Kawasaki Duo of Jacob Argubright and Gary Sutherlin at 4th and 5th overall. Out of the mix at the finish line was Destry Abbott who was retrieved with what appears to be a broken collar bone. Abbott will miss round 7 in two weeks, but still has the point's advantage to remain top 5 in the championship battle.
Justin Imhof continued his dominance in the 250cc class and finished 6th overall and first in class. The Paul Krause Racing's 250cc two-stroke is virtually untouchable in the National Hare and Hound series, and looks to head back north to Utah with a decent points buffer, despite a first round DNS.
The 2009 ATV points champion was on fire at Round 6, and Kyle Penner again finished 1st overall ATV which was good enough to place himself into first place for the 2010 Championship battle. The win was not an easy one; however, as newly turned expert Shaun Bigney held it open to finish second overall ATV only 25 seconds down of Penner.
On the women's side of the race, WMA star and KTM North America backed Sarah Whitmore accomplished what she had set out to do, finish and win! Coming into the pits virtually side by side with Joanna Kaczmarek (N1L) the two woman experts went to work on loop two, and Whitmore got the better end of the deal. Finishing at 83rd overall, Whitmore finished her first National Hare and Hound with just about enough stories to last her the rest of the year.
