This past weekends NASCAR Sprint Cup race in Watkins Glen, New York continued to show the growing popularity of A&E's Duck Dynasty. The gun totin’, duck calling, Robertson Clan came to “The Glen” in person, and in the form of art, on the hood of Clint Bowyers Toyota Camry. Dressed in their usual camouflage attire, Willy, Phil, Jase and Si turned the #15 Michael Waltrip Racing stock car into the talk of the town, and along with the Realtree Camouflage schemed paintjob, it was as beautiful a car as you’ll see in the nation’s top racing series.
As good the cup car looked up close, it was even more visually appealing during qualifying on Friday. Clint Bowyer, who entered Watkins Glen second in the Sprint Cup standings, drove the Kawasaki, Hoyt Archery and Peak Motor Oils back Toyota to the second qualifying position behind the #9 car of Martin Ambrose.
Sunday’s race was a thriller, as the #18 car of Kyle Bush and the #2 car of Brad Keselowski battled bumper to bumper for the final few laps. Clint Bowyer did a terrific job, and didn’t fall out of the top 10 most of the afternoon, but he and his crew couldn’t dial in the handling for the Watkins Glen road course. Bowyer drove hard, and finished in the sixth position, behind Martin Truex Jr. (#56) in third, Carl Edwards (#99) in fourth and Juan Pablo Montoya (#42) in fifth, respectively. Joey Lagano (#22), Jimmie Johnson (#48), Kurt Busch (#78) and AJ Allmendinger (#51) rounded out the top 10.
