Interview
During the summer break in the GNCC series, we touched base with seven-time female GNCC champion Traci Cecco to float a few obscure questions her way. As far as we're concerned, Traci is the gal who put female racers on the map! Don't let her sweet smile and pretty face fool you. This lightning-fast chick will methodically beat down any challenger with the stones to cross her path! We heard a rumor she once challenged Chuck Norris to a race and he declined. Having had the opportunity to turn laps with Traci many times over the years, we can say it was probably a wise choice on his part.
1 Are you a full-time racer or do you have a day job?
During the day I am a full-time Physical Therapist Assistant, and evenings/weekends I am a full-time factory Yamaha racer.2 Nice... Does that mean you're able to train for racing while you are at your day job?
I sneak it in...LOL...just kidding! Every day I motivate and educate my patients to exercise and train hard to achieve their individual goals. So in return that motivates me to train and exercise to succeed in racing.3 What's worse for a cute PT to deal with:
a grumpy old man or a dirty old man? Definitely a grumpy old man!4 Do you ever feel bad about touring the country deflating the egos of the local "fast guy" who's going to run Traci Cecco down and show her what it's like to race a real man?
NEVER!5 In a "grilled cheese-off," what type of cheese does it take to make the ultimate sandwich? Swiss. 6 If someone wanted to transform their body into a lean, mean racing machine like yours and mine [Editor's note: Let him go, he's on a roll], what advice would you give them? Awww, you're too sweet! Momma's home cooking, H2O and lots of heart!
7 Have you ever met factory KTM racer Angel Atwell's twins?
You do realize she has no children, don't you?8 Do you have any vices?
Big Macs.9 Where do you currently live?
West Cameron Twp, Pennsylvania. [Editor's note: This is the heart of the Pennsylvania Coal Region, sandwiched between the infamous towns of Trevorton and Shamokin.]10 Ah, Pennsylvania, where the men are men and so are the women. [Editor's note: We're joking, sort of.] Why does the Pennsylvania Coal Region breed such legendary and insanely talented ATV racers?
I guess there isn't much to do except ride ATVs!11 Pittsburgh Steelers or Philadelphia Eagles?
I am being forced to say...Steelers. I don't want my man (Jeffrey Pickens) to get mad at me! 12 Do sharks have a week dedicated to Traci Cecco on the Discovery Channel?
Because if they don't, we think they should! I'll have to check into that!13 What's the worst first name you've ever heard a human be named?
Buck.14 If you had a spare grand burning a hole in your pocket, what would you spend it on at this exact second?
Fly to Vegas and put it all on number 33.15 If you could talk Yamaha into building one product it doesn't currently produce, what would it be?
A Yamaha Barbie doll! [We like the way Traci thinks!]16 Do you have any advice for Lindsey Lohan?
Keep your hands in your lap like a lady Lindsey!17 What would you rather have: a $400 Fly Racing helmet or one of those fancy expensive lady purse thingies?
A Fly Racing helmet, which just so happens to come in a fancy premium helmet bag!18 So when your buddy Chris Borich was a kid, he wanted to grow up and be a werewolf. What about you?
Are you sure Borich wanted to be a werewolf? I bet that's what he was thinking during the Snowshoe race. (Borich got beat by Brian Wolf. Get it-where's Wolf...) [Editor's note: Don't quit your day job Traci!] Back to the question: I wanted to be Smurfette.19 We heard you got hit in the face this year with a rock thrown from a roosting quad and it broke your nose. True?
Unfortunately true! It's just part of being a GNCC racer.20 I like to hydrate myself with beer and Mountain Dew, I eat lasagna and BBQ chips like they're going out of style, I rarely train, and I generally show up to a few GNCCs a year with a pipe dream of landing a factory ride. Any advice to help make my dreams come true?
Lance, I've known you for a long time, you better stick to teaching, writing and studying "twins"...LOL!!!!! [Editor's note: Well played Traci! You win again!]
