LOS ANGELES-
Associate Editor Brian Purtymun...
Associate Editor Brian Purtymun in the midst of his gaming marathon.
ATV Rider Associate Editor Brian Purtymun finally emerged from his apartment after an astounding 20-hour non-stop session of video gaming. Purtymun was testing the new Playstation 2 ATV Off-Road Fury 4 video game. Appearing more bleary-eyed and disoriented than normal, the lanky Georgian briefly spoke to reporters from the balcony of his apartment after his heroic achievement:
"A lot of people come to Southern California for the surf, the sun, the breezes and the babes. Little did I know that this job would include testing hardcore video - games, that is, for hours on end. After an exhaustive stint with the demo version, I can say with confidence that my research shows ATV Off-Road Fury 4 is definitely addicting. It has over 30 vehicles, a story mode, 72 different tracks, online play for up to eight at a time as well as a custom track editor. Yeah, this game should be a hit with our readers when it is released late this October by Sony Computer Entertainment of America at an MSRP of $39.99."
Purtymun stopped to wipe away his five-o-clock Cheetos crumbs shadow, then shocked reporters by adding, "I have yet to acquire a full version of the game, but from the look of things, it may even give one of my all-time Nintendo favorites, Excitebike, a run for its money."
When reached for comment, the associate editor's room mate said, "Yeah, that Brian is friggin' hardcore, man. He was pretty much camped out in the living room all weekend. I asked if he wanted to get a bite to eat or catch a movie, but he just kept mumbling something about his `journalistic duty' to keep playing so his readers stay informed." He added, "But I'll be pissed if I get home tonight and he hasn't clean up that miniature fort around his chair that he made out of empty junk food bags and crushed Mountain Dew cans."
The blistered thumb and bloodshot eyed Purtymun was unable to continue and waved off any further questions, left his balcony, and staggered off to buy some Band Aids, antacids and Visine. All we can say is this game must be so good that it's beyond words.
