The Series: Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals
The Location: Medora, Indiana
The Round: Johnny Signs Hill Jack XC Opener
The Track: Virgin Race Ground
The Race: A Battleground
The opening round of the OMA Nationals kicked off in Medora, Indiana with the return of 2009 OMA Champion, Kyle Martin and 2008 OMA Champion Bryan Hulsey. However it would be Yamaha's Taylor Kiser that would end the Honda mounted Missouri duo. After nabbing the K & N Filters sponsored holeshot, Kiser (Maxxis/FMF/IMS/Pro Armor) would find himself plagued with the presence of KTM mounted Joshua Beavers (DC Cycle Racing) early on in the event. Joshua Beavers would take the lead over Kiser briefly for two laps mid race, but ultimately Kiser would come back with a vengeance and pull away with a finish time nearing two minutes over Josh.
Brother, Shawn Beavers (Dodge Racing/Seymour Precision Machine) and Bryan Hulsey (Moose Racing/Rekluse/Vee Rubber/Powermadd/Maier) would battle for third and fourth place before Shawn Beavers would be taken out of the race with a broken ball joint, allowing Hulsey to sweep up on the third place podium slot.
Kyle Martin (Parts Unlimited/Moose Racing/Rekluse/Maxxis/Dirt Works Motorsports/Wrath Racing) started out decent but would succumb to chain malfunctions throughout the event early on; the third chain issue would take him out by his fourth lap.
