Martin Takes Fourth Consecutive OMA Win

The Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals would imprint land in Festus, Missouri with the SIDI Mizzo XC. However the overall atv winner would not imprint the podium, Kyle Martin (Dirtworks Motorsports/Maxxis/Fly Gear/Scott/HMF) took his fourth consecutive OMA win. "It was a hot one, the bike held up real well. Dirtworks got my motor together real quick and I was able to have a good machine for this round. The downhill was very interesting. I come up on some lapped riders and they were a little scared of it. I was too coming down. I mean, there's no stopping. Where ever you were going, that's where you were going. I was kind of scared for them. I didn't know where they were going to end up. It was a little gnarly, but that's what makes it pretty fun. This event was a lot of fun. Up on the hilltops, with the rock ledges and stuff, that was gnarly." Martin led the pack eight laps through the virgin countryside and took the checkers three minutes over fellow OMA racer, John Pitts.

John Pitts' (Dirt Works/Vee Rubber/Rekluse/Moose Racing/Duncan Racing) mounted on another Dirt Works machine found some luck, when Hulsey would run into some mechanical failure. "I'll take it, I'll take luck any day, I liked it a lot," said Pitts. "It was a blast. A good Missouri course; rocks and tight trails." Hulsey would get into details... "About the third to the last lap John let me by and Kyle wasn't too far out front. I was able actually to put a little time on Kyle and I got up within about ten seconds. Going up a real rough hill I just sheared my foot peg off. I come down over a jump off the hill and the foot peg sheared off, so I tried to go ahead and finish that lap as much as possible, hoping maybe it was the last lap, but it wasn't. I finished that last lap, but John and DJ Shrum both got by me."

OMA newcomer, Donnye Shrum (Dirt Works Motorsports/Moose Racing) out of Granite City, Illinois, was light on words during the podium interview; he was in bit of new territory himself on the National podium being interviewed. Shrum stated "I got a little hot; tired, it went all right. The track was pretty rough right there near the end, that rock garden and that downhill."

As a trait of the Parts Unlimited Series, the next OMA round will be held at another new venue in Bedford, Indiana; the Johnny Signs XC August 29 & 30.
