Round three of the Parts Unlimited OMA Nationals presented by DP Brakes and co-sanctioned with Craig Lucas' Extreme Dirt Series, would bring KTM's Adam McGill (Quadtech Precision/Ohlin/Faast) the breezed overall win by four minutes over Brian Wolf (GT Thunder/Powermadd/Yamaha). McGill stated "The track was awesome", although a dry spell in the Rio Grande, Ohio area would bring dusty conditions; conditions in the woods were near perfect. OMA newcomer, Walker Fowler (Maxxis/Faast/Yamaha) would be taken over by the second lap by McGill. McGill "the race went really well, I liked the track a lot. Definitely a lot of fast sections, little off-cambers, a little slick, but, I mean, for the most part it was pretty kick a, for sure. I've been doing a lot with shocks and trying to get the bike better," also adding, "Baldwin Motorsports built me one heck of a motor. It was actually really cool. I liked it a lot. It was a good track. I enjoyed it a lot."
There are moments in racing where the "race" is not always for first place... Brian Wolf would prevail in the battle for second place over Walker Fowler by only seventeen seconds. Hyper HMF Yamaha mounted Brian Wolf, "The track was a lot of fun. It was kind of short, but a lot of fun. Creeks, ravines, hills, fields, it had it all." Fowler kicked off the race with the holeshot stating, "I definitely liked it," recalled Fowler. "I got the holeshot and lead the first lap. I've never done that before. It was pretty cool."
Kyle Martin (Maxxis / Dirtworks Motorsports (Willow Springs, MO)/Fly Racing) picked up fourth place securing his second place position in the point standings. The Missouri racer stated he was "just happy to finish, we had some issues with the bike before the race and I think we go them worked through good enough to finish. We ran a pretty solid race."
OMA's '08 Champion, Bryan Hulsey (Duncan Racing/Moose Racing/Dirtworks) who was plagued with misfortunes the first two rounds of the OMA's has picked up in the results and rounded out the top five. "It was good to have a good race today, obviously you want to be up on the box there, but "I was glad to finish."
Current point's leader, Shawn Hess (Hess Motorsports/Honda/Elk Suspension sponsored/Maxxis) was indeed ready before the race, "The track was great! Bill did it again creating a track with something for everyone. This track was a little faster than the previous round, but I liked it. Fast fields, nice hill climbs, tight virgin woods, off camber trails, creeks, very little mud, dust, fast woods and a fire road or two." But no matter how great the track is, how great you machine is running... food poisoning will take you out!
