With the growing popularity of side-by-side ATVs like Yamaha's Rhino, the aftermarket has stepped up with modified versions of the vehicle and long-travel A-arms, roll bars, shocks, aftermarket seats and so much more. Look for more information on Rhino accessories in upcoming issues. -Ray Larez
Oops!
In our September '05 issue, we had a typo in "High Lifter Mud Nationals." The winner of the Bad 2 Da Bone competition was Kenny Gaines, but he was on a Turner Cycles-customized 2003 Honda Rincon-not a red Polaris. The Humble, Texas, shop equipped Gaines' machine with 26 inches of ground clearance.
BRP Apache ATV Track Kit
Track kits for ATVs aren't new, but from an OEM ATV it is. Bombardier's Apache kit is claimed to fit most major ATV models. And since it comes from people who know a thing or two about snowmobiles, with proven talents building ATVs, we're apt to believe the claims. The kit includes two purpose-built track profiles. The rear track is designed for optimal traction in snow, featuring a free rotating/floating ski-concept system, while the front track is engineered to deliver the best steering capability in the industry. This technology is similar to what's seen on the Ski-Doo sleds, in offering a patented point of rotation, which reduces impact transfers from obstacles to the ATV and limits steering vibration. BRP says the front track also has a higher angle of attack for optimum handling while driving over objects in its path. Sounds good to us.
Real Men Ride Pink!
Throughout the ATV racing community, you will find different people racing for great causes. Kevin Johnston and Ron Moore both ran pink plastic at The Stomp GNCC in Yadkinville, North Carolina, in order to raise awareness for breast cancer. They have coined this cause Racing 4 A Cure. For more information on how you can help, check out the following web sites: www.breastcancer.org, www.thebreastcancersite.com and http://breast-cancer-research.com.
